Chad Michael Murray as Lucas Scott
Lucas Eugene Scott of The CW's One Tree Hill is portrayed by Chad Michael Murray. The son of Karen Roe and Dan Scott, Lucas grew up without a father, as Dan had left the two to marry another woman, Deb Lee, the mother of his half-brother, Nathan. However, the role of the father in his life was mostly played by his kind uncle, Keith Scott, who liked Karen a lot. He was raised in Tree Hill, North Carolina, where he met his best friend, Haley James.
In the first season, Coach Whitey Durham recruited Lucas into the school's basketball team, because most of the players were suspended for driving under the influence of alcohol. Lucas seemed to be a good basketball player, and Nathan, his half-brother and captain of the basketball team seemed to be threatened by the arrival of Lucas in the team.
Lucas was initially attracted to Peyton Sawyer, Nathan's ex-girlfriend. After she broke up with Nathan, she had a fling with Lucas, but immediately cut it off, fearing that they were going too fast, thus forcing Lucas to get with Brooke Davis instead. However, Peyton realized that she made a mistake, and really wanted Lucas for herself. On a night at a motel, Peyton kissed Lucas, and he agreed to be with her behind Brooke's back. However, Peyton intended to reveal the truth to Brooke, but on the night of their confrontation, Lucas got into a car accident with Keith. It was Dan who helped save Lucas, whom for the first time he called his son. Coming from a coma, Lucas awakens to see that Brooke and Peyton were in a conflict because of his relationship with the two girls. This caused him to become careless with himself, ending up with a one night stand with a girl from a bar. When Peyton found out about this, she cut her ties with Lucas, who decided to leave town for a change.
Lucas returned in season 2, when he grows closer to his real father, Dan. He also noticed that Brooke and Peyton were friends again, as he started to redevelop his feelings for Brooke. He pursued her, but she left in the summer to be with her parents. Lucas also found out about Dan's schemes, thus developing a desire to bring Dan down. He also got into a conflict with Nathan, who seemed to be disappointed at Lucas for losing his college fund and thwarting Nathan's efforts of rebuilding his family.
